Abstract

The background of this study comes from the problem of postoperative nausea and vomiting or known as post operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is one of the most frequent complaints after surgery. The duration of surgery of more than one hour will increase the risk of PONV compared to surgery lasting less than one hour. The study aimed to determine the correlation between the duration of surgery and the incidence of Early PONV post spinal anesthesia in sectio caesarean section patients at Wisma Rini Pringsewu Hospital. The research design used is quantitative correlation with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples was 84 respondents selected by purposive sampling technique. Data analysis uses the chi-square test. The results of the study are as follows: first, 58.3% experienced the duration of risky surgery and 69% of respondents did not experience nausea. Second, the correlation test showed that there was a meaningful relationship between  the duration of surgery and Early Post Operative Nausea And Vomiting (PONV) Post Spinal Anesthesia in Sectio Caesarean Patients, it was known that the p-value = 0.000 (α = 0.05). It is important to explain in detail the procedure and effects of surgery and further research can be carried out on other factors
