Class Management of Students With Intellectual Disability in SLB Pelita Kasih Bandar Lampung

Abstract

This research is motivated by students with moderate mental retardation. The purpose of this research is to find out how good classroom management can support learning in mentally retarded children in grade 11C. The research method used is a qualitative research method to produce descriptive data in the form of written words from the observed source/object. The subjects studied in this study were students with moderate mental retardation in class 11C SDLB Pelita Kasih located in Sukabumi Village, Sukabumi Indah District, Bandar City. Lampung. Data collection techniques using observation techniques, interviews and documentation. The research was carried out at SLB Pelita Kasih JL Sutan Ageng Tirtayasa Perum Wijaya 3 Bandar Lampung by observing and interviewing the homeroom teacher for class 11C. Data analysis in research takes place simultaneously with the data collection process. Among them are through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results of this study show that classroom management at SDLB 11C Pelita Kasih is very good because the process is seen with enthusiasm by students in following the learning process. As well as good learning quality with a good learning process and teacher efforts in creating classroom conditions which ultimately have an impact on the teaching and learning process. This is shown from the results of the analysis of observations and interviews. Based on these results, it can be concluded that by creating classroom management, students are no longer objects, but subjects of learning. Therefore, in addition to mastery of subjects, creativity in teaching is also needed.
