Using Image Media to Improve Student's Poetry Writing Ability

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of students' poetry writing skills using image media. Students' poetry writing ability based on pre-research is still relatively low, namely 66, so efforts are needed to increase it to be higher. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) using two cycles. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gadingrejo totaling 24 students. The data was collected using a test technique in the form of an assignment to make free poetry. The results showed that the students' ability in the cycle II (76) was higher than the cycle I (72) and pre-cycle (66). Thus, the conclusion of this study proves that the use of image media can improve students' poetry writing skills.
