Ethnomathics Exploration at Baiturrohim Mosque

Abstract

This study aims to find the mathematical elements contained in the Baiturrohim Mosque in Pandasari village, Sukoharjo district. This type of research is qualitative with an ethnographic approach. Data collection methods used are observation, documentation, and interviews. The process of observation and documentation was carried out to identify the mathematical elements in the building of the Biturrahim Mosque. While the interview process was carried out to examine the cultural values ​​in the Biturrahim Mosque building. The results showed that there were elements of flat geometry and spatial geometry in the building of the Biturrahim Mosque. The geometric elements identified are pyramids, squares, rectangles, rhombuses, circles, triangles, cubes, and blocks. The results of this study are expected to be useful for contextual learning and are used as examples of the use of mathematical concepts and understanding ethnomathics in mosques.
