Gender Concept in Preschool Children at Kasih Bunda Kindergarten

Abstract

The existence of the issue of gender bias in the process of parenting in early childhood which will have an impact on the development, behavior patterns and personality of children, it is important for educators, both teachers and parents to provide an understanding of the concept of gender from an early age. This study aims to determine the role of parents and teachers in providing an understanding of the concept of gender in early childhood children at Kasih Bunda Kemiling Kindergarten, Bandar Lampung. This research uses qualitative research to produce descriptive data. Methods of data collection using observation, interviews and questionnaires with the measurement scale used is the Guttman Scale with the research sample being Students, Parents and Kindergarten Teachers of Kasih Bunda Kemiling Bandar Lampung. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the parents and teachers of the Kindergarten of Kasih Bunda Kemiling Bandar Lampung understand the concept of gender and apply it in parenting. It is proven that the child/student has fulfilled or is declared to have understood the concept of gender both about the same sex and the opposite sex. Also parents and teachers of Kindergarten of Kasih Bunda Kemiling Bandar Lampung have played a role in providing understanding of the concept of gender to children as.
