FACTORS AFFECTING PATIENTS AND FAMILIES IN REHABILITATION OF NON-HEMORRHAGIC STROKE PATIENTS: A LITERATURE REVIEW
Abstract
Stroke is one of the leading causes of death worldwide and also leads to paralysis in the extremities. Medical rehabilitation becomes very important for stroke patients to return to normal or to minimize residual symptoms that may occur. This research aims to analyse the factors that influence patients and families in the rehabilitation of non-stroke patients. The design of this study is a literature review using databases such as Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, PUBMED, and ScienceDirect. From the total number of articles, after analysing the titles, abstracts, and relevance of the content, around nine articles were reviewed in this writing, resulting in eight articles. The research findings indicate that the factors influencing patients and families in the rehabilitation of non-haemorrhagic stroke patients include patient motivation and family support, family knowledge, income, accessibility, attack status, as well as healthcare service, patient socio-demographic characteristics, education and employment, patient psychology, surrounding environment, family roles, distance and transportation, knowledge and sources of information, emotional support from family, age, number of treatment sessions, duration of CVA, and FIM scores. Recommendations are specifically given for healthcare professionals in the field of medical rehabilitation to provide more support in delivering information regarding stroke-related matters and the importance of medical rehabilitation for stroke patients.
