SHARIA ECONOMIC LAW IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE HALAL INDUSTRY: Opportunities and Challenges
Abstract
This research examines the opportunities and challenges in implementing sharia economic law in the global halal industry, with a focus on the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and tourism sectors. The halal industry is experiencing significant growth due to increasing demand from Muslim populations around the world, but faces obstacles such as fragmentation of certification standards, limited human resources, and the complexity of regulations and global supply chains. This research uses a qualitative approach with literature study methods and descriptive analysis to explore the role of sharia economic law in overcoming the challenges of the halal industry. The main data sources include academic journals, and policies related to sharia economic law and international halal standards. This study also highlights the various efforts made by the government, international organizations and the private sector to unify halal certification standards and increase human resource capacity. The research results show that harmonization of halal certification standards, strengthening sharia education, and the application of technology such as blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT) can be the main solutions to overcome this challenge. In addition, multilateral collaboration is needed to simplify international regulations and accelerate trade in halal products. With the right strategy, the halal industry has the potential to make a major contribution to global economic growth in accordance with sharia principles.
