Abstract

This research explores the role of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in improving medical students' cross-cultural communication skills. Effective communication skills are essential in medical practice, especially in multicultural and multilingual environments. Using a systematic literature review approach, this research analyzes various studies that discuss the integration of ESP in medical curricula and its impact on the development of cross-cultural communication skills. The results of the analysis show that ESP has the potential to increase students' understanding of culturally sensitive health communication, as well as strengthen interactions with patients from diverse backgrounds. This study provides recommendations for improvements to the ESP curriculum and the need for further, more empirical research in various medical education contexts. These findings are expected to make a significant contribution to the development of a more effective curriculum in medical education in the global era
