The Effect of Prenatal Yoga in Maternal and Fetal Wellness : Scoping Review

Abstrak

To aim was to describe the evidence of the effect of prenatal yoga in maternal and fetal wellness. Literature Review: Women who are pregnant go through various kinds of physiological and psychological changes. To improve overall health during the prenatal period, there are recommendations that pregnant women can follow prenatal yoga to avoid medical or obstetric complications. Methods:  Design  Scoping review using PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Search the Pubmed database, EBSCOhost, Wiley Online Library, Science Direct, and disbursed articles from 2012 to 2022. The search terms are related to Effect, Prenatal Yoga, Maternal and Fetal Wellness. The assessment tool uses the JBI checklist. Results: The screening results were 1,526 records filtered by title and abstract. The results after excluding and deleting duplicate data were 82 articles. The full text that was tested for feasibility was 53 articles and then a critical appraisal of 9 articles was carried out. The findings are presented in three themes: Maternal Wellness and Fetal Wellness. Conclusion: This study revealed the positive effects of yoga on improving health for the developing fetus and reducing maternal and fetal complications after pregnancy. Recommendations: The results of this scoping review will help policy makers, health care providers, and families to improve maternal and fetal wellness in perinatal care using the program interventions presented and have a positive impact on maternal and infant health and reduce mortality and mortality.
